Dear Bat Kol alums and Friends,<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

With sorrow, our Bat Kol community mourns the passing of our beloved Rabbi Dr. Pesach Schindler. He taught for Bat Kol for over 25 years. He is known by our alums worldwide. We know him as a dynamic professor of Talmud, as a great personal director of students writing search papers, as a musician and a long distance runner. Others had him as director of their master\u2019s thesis. \u00a0All gave him high praise for his interest in his students and his ability to make profound thoughts understandable.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We know he lives on in all the lives of those he touched. \u00a0He lives on in us, as well, by the seeds of Torah he sowed within us and which have brought forth fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.<\/p>\n

Rabbi Schindler wil be missed. He was full of wisdom and passion. I will always<\/p>\n

remember him for motivating me to expound more on my opinion of a text in Shemot<\/p>\n

during a class in Bat Kol 2012. He affirmed my first opinion, walked away, then came<\/p>\n

back to me. His face was about a foot and a half away from mine. He looked me in the<\/p>\n

eye and emphatically said, “What else?! What else?! Think! Think!” That episode left a<\/p>\n

very deep impression and will forever influence the way I study and teach Scripture. I<\/p>\n

am very grateful for that. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.<\/p>\n

It is with such sadness that I receive the news of Rabbi Dr Pesach Schindler\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n

I remember Pesach as a powerful teacher, encouraging yet always calling the student<\/p>\n

to the next step, the next idea, the next possibility…not to settle. He had an immense<\/p>\n

intellect, yet could distill the essence of an idea simply without losing any of its<\/p>\n

profundity. He was a wonderful human being, a man of wisdom and compassion, who<\/p>\n

had reflected deeply upon all life\u2019s experiences, the joy and the suffering, with enduring<\/p>\n

faith. He always spoke from those depths. Life, love, joy, hope permeated his person. I<\/p>\n

first met Pesach on my first Bat Kol program in 2007, and again in 2009. He also<\/p>\n

mentored me in my weekly Light of Torah writings through a regular email conversation<\/p>\n

2009-2013. And he generously made room in his schedule to teach our Australian<\/p>\n

Light of Torah groups each year that they came to Israel. I will always treasure his<\/p>\n

encouragement, insights, guidance, friendship and sense of humor. So many<\/p>\n

memories. So much blessing. Thank you for the opportunity to remember and give<\/p>\n

thanks. Our hearts go out to the Schindler family at this time. May our ongoing Torah<\/p>\n
